Akasha 2022 is cancelled and it breaks our hearts to share the news with you.
After a long and frustrating process with full compliance on our side, the necessary permits to go ahead with Akasha were not granted to us the week before last – also jeopardizing the future of the two other festivals planned at Bergheider See.
Enabled by political lobbying, a final and unexpected round of negotiation with the community of Lichterfeld presented a last glimmer of hope over the weekend, but it is now evident that we definitely cannot realise Akasha at Bergheider See this summer.
Due to a shift in attitude towards festival culture as part of the longterm development and land-use plans at Bergheider See, the new parameters that were ultimately – and unforeseeably – set for us aren’t workable for a festival of our size. The conditions we were now facing simply cannot be aligned with our vision or our financial means after two tough years, both in regard to the grounds we’d be allowed to use and the costs involved.
All purchased tickets will be refunded to you as soon as possible via Ticket.io and we kindly ask you to bear with us in the process. Please contact the Ticket.io customer support directly in case of any enquiries. You will also have the option to donate your ticket to support us should you wish to do so.
Needless to say this is a devastating blow and we are absolutely gutted that we can’t live our little utopia with you this summer. Your trust as well as that of the fantastic artists and agencies we’re working with means the world to us – more than ever.
So for now our hearts may be broken, but our spirit perseveres as the prospect of uniting with you to transcend through music, art and community drives us towards a brighter future. Please rest assured: Akasha will be back – on the floor, on vinyl, and beyond – for us to elevate each other, together!
